Ever since opening day at Disneyland Resort (May 31st, 2019) and Walt Disney World Resort (August 29, 2019), Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run has been one of the most popular Disney attractions at both locations as Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort have their own versions of this attraction, located within Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
If you have not already ridden this ride, guests are teamed up in groups of 6 and each person is assigned their own designated duty (2 Pilots, 2 Gunners, and 2 Engineers). Your group then climbs inside the infamous cockpit of the iconic ship. While aboard, the team gets thrown into a smuggling mission with Chewbacca, and Hondo Ohnaka.

It has been discovered that there is a way to unlock a secret mode, which allows you to turn off Hondo Ohnaka and get a full experience with just Chewbacca yelling at you throughout the entire mission! This “hack” appears to be similar to old video game cheat codes, where Star Wars fans (aboard the attraction) must push certain buttons in a specific order within a certain time frame. This time its not - up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, and Start! HA!
If you have not already had the full (AMAZING) experience, I would suggest riding it in normal mode first. If you want to have all of the Chewbacca sound effects the next time you board Han Solo’s ship, follow these step by step instructions:
Step 1 - Pilots:
When guests first enter the attraction, they typically activate their positions right away. In order to unlock the secret Chewbacca mode, do NOT do this. Instead, the left and right pilots must push their controls to the extreme left/right or extreme up/down. After this is done, then you can hit your activate button.
Step 2 - Gunners and Engineers:
You ALL must hit one of the white buttons on your console BEFORE hitting the orange activation buttons. (Very similar to hitting the SHIFT key on a keyboard).
Important:
All of this must be completed BEFORE the Disney Cast Member finishes checking your seat belts and launches the Disney attraction.
