Celebrating the Disney100 at the Disneyland Resort

ICYMI: The Walt Disney Company is celebrating its 100th anniversary! To commemorate this milestone in the most magical way possible, Disney Parks all around the world are joining in on the fun. Recently we were hosted by Disney to enjoy some of the exciting things taking place for this celebration at the Disneyland Resort. Not only was it a great time getting to experience these things firsthand, but it was so wonderful that we want to make sure you have all the deets.

Check out some of the things taking place this year at Disneyland, that makes THIS the year to visit the "Happiest Place on Earth."

Say hello to a brand-new look at Mickey's Toontown

At Disneyland, Mickey's Toontown was recently reimagined. With a fresh new look, along with new offerings, stepping into Toontown will easily be one of your favorite moments of the day.

What's New?

All aboard Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway

"Inside the El CapiTOON Theatre, this family-friendly experience transports you into the wacky and unpredictable cartoon world of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, where you’ll board a train engineered by Goofy and embark on a zany adventure."

To experience this attraction, you'll have two options. One option is to join the complimentary virtual queue, which is only accessible via the Disneyland app. The virtual queue will open at 7 am and 1 pm each day. So, make sure to be on your phone hitting refresh as the clock changes to the opening time. Once you successfully snag a spot in the queue, you'll be given a return time to head back and enjoy the ride. The second option is to purchase an "Individual Lightning Lane" pass. With this option, guests can pay to pick a specific time they would like to experience this attraction. These options do run out, so we suggest being ready at 7 am to take advantage of this offering.

The Gangs all here and someone has joined in on the fun!

Like before the update, while visiting Mickey's Toontown, you can visit Mickey and Minnie inside their "homes" during an adorable meet and greet. You may even notice that Mickey is sporting a new trendy look. You can also see characters like Goofy and Clarabelle while they take a walk around town enjoying the cool California breeze. However, you'll want to keep your eye out for the wandering characters. If you're lucky, you may run into a new face.... the one and only PETE!

We're feeling silly ... or should we say Goofy?

Dedicated to all things play, Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard is the place to be for your littles. Step through the fence and enter a sound garden where your little adventurers can enjoy some hands-on fun making funny sounds that will have them giggling all day.

Here you can also find yourself inside Goofy’s House. Decked out in photos of Goofy, Max, as well as some of your favorite "Goof Troop" characters, "you’ll find a fun, interactive candy-making contraption that only Goofy could imagine!" From top to bottom, left to right, you'll be fascinated watching the candy move around this hilariously put-together room.

You also don't want to miss Donald's Boat, which is perched in the duck pond of the Goof homestead. "Imagine larger-than-life spinning water lilies, balance beams and rocking toys at Donald’s Duck Pond that will help little ones get the wiggles out. Kids will definitely love making a splash in this space! You also can look into the boat through the portholes to witness bubbles of fun inside the flooded vessel and interact with some familiar ducklings including Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby."

Chip and Dale's Gadget Coaster

If you've visited Toontown in the past, you may remember Gadget's Go Coaster. This cute little ride, perfect for tiny tots, has been reimagined into Chip and Dale's Gadget Coaster. While the changes aren't too over the top, you'll still want to take advantage of this fun attraction.

Feeling Hungry?

Café Daisy and Good Boy! Grocers are new in town and they've got some cute things you don't want to miss. At Café Daisy, you can enjoy things like Pepperoni Please! Pizza (not only is it tasty but it has something "not so hidden" on it). At Good Boy! Grocers you can stock up on snacks and even plan your very own "perfect picnic."

Outside of Toontown there's still plenty things to see and do while you celebrate the Disney100.

Calling all dreamers!

If you've seen the Magic Happens parade before, then you know it's an absolute treat. From Sorcerer Mickey in his brightly colored robe, to Moana and Miguel, you can catch some of your favorite Disney characters as they celebrate the dreamers inside us all. From the young to the young at heart, this parade will remind you why "this is the moment that magic was made for."

The sun may have went down, but the fun just started.

The night comes to life at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure during the Disney100. Two new nighttime spectaculars have arrived to give you #AllTheFeels and celebrate some of the most cherished moments of Disney stories.

At Disneyland you don't want to miss "Wondrous Journeys." Transforming Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, the facade of "it's a small world", and the Rivers of America, this nighttime show takes you on an adventure that only 100 years of Disney could take you on. Did we mention Baymax (from Big Hero 6) flies above the castle?!?

Hopping over the Disney California Adventure Park, World of Color - ONE "celebrates the storytelling legacy started by Walt Disney, illustrating how a single action, like a drop of water, creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. This is the first Disneyland Resort nighttime spectacular to feature characters, music and moments from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, the Avengers and Star Wars in the same production."

Celebrating in style one spirit jersey and cupcake at a time....

If you're going to celebrate the Disney100, why not do it with style? With new merch like Mouse Ears, specially designed MagicBands, all the way to collectable coins and popcorn buckets. You're sure to find the perfect Disney100 souvenir.

...And if you're hungry, you'll want to stop by somewhere like the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe to grab a Disney100 inspired sweet treat. (...Or swing by a snack cart to grab one of our favorite Disneyland snacks... a Disney100 churro!)

Plus, we can't forget to mention that Mickey and his pals are all dressed up for the fun!

With all this magic and so much more, the Happiest Place on Earth is one of THE places to be this year. So, contact your favorite MMV agent (ME!) to start planning your next trip to the Disneyland Resort!
