The most recent 'dry dock' for the Disney Dream resulted in several enhancements, including a remarkable expansion of the Concierge Lounge and Concierge Deck. The lounge design was inspired by Hercules and Mt Olympus, creating a truly awe-inspiring space! Check it out here:
If you've never sailed Concierge with Disney Cruise Line, you may be wondering... "What does Concierge Level include when sailing aboard Disney Cruise Line?" OR "Is Concierge worth it on Disney Cruise Line?"
From the instant you book your stateroom until you are escorted off the ship at disembarkation, the committed Concierge Team on land and at sea will work to exceed expectations and ensure your vacation is truly enchanting.
Before setting sail, you'll receive an email from the shoreside Concierge Team to assist you with booking onboard activities (spa services, cabana rentals, drink tastings, specialty dining, etc.) and Port Adventures (shore excursions). You will be given priority booking of said activities and excursions - 120 days before sailing. However, you will get the email approximately 135 days before your sailing. This is very important to note as many activities or offerings will fill up well before your sailing date. Having this type of 'priority' will ensure you can book ALL the activities and experiences you wish - especially having a chance to get those elusive Castaway Cay Cabanas! You will also have priority in choosing your dining times and can request special table locations for dinner!
Once you reach the cruise terminal on embarkation day, is when the magic of concierge truly unfolds! You're not only given priority embarkation and disembarkation, but concierge guests also have a dedicated waiting area in the terminal (varies by port) and are among the very first guests to board the ship. This means even more time on board enjoying the ship, and a less crowded and more relaxing embarkation process (which is HUGE for me as someone who typically struggles with the chaos of embarkation day when cruising). Once aboard you will be treated to an exclusive concierge lunch in one of the main dining rooms (BONUS: For this meal, alcohol and specialty drinks are included!!!). This is also where the concierge staff will meet with you and introduce themselves. They will see if you need anything moved around or any arrangements made that were not already taken care of.
Your stateroom will be upgraded and will have more square footage of space than the non-concierge counterparts and will include some in-room perks such as bathrobes, slippers, elevated ELEMIS shower, & bath products, and luxurious Frette bed linens. Your refrigerator (or drink cooler) will be stocked with your preferred beverages and those with a full-size refrigerator can even have a stock of Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars at their fingertips - in the freezer. Concierge-level guests will be able to enjoy their staterooms being made ready earlier as well as benefit from priority luggage delivery. Once in your stateroom, you will be greeted by a fruit assortment and a pillow menu that includes an option for silk pillowcases! That's right girlies - no need to pack your silk pillowcases! Your sailing will also include Wifi - the type of Wifi included varies by sailing and stateroom category.
Concierge guests can also order from a full menu for breakfast (not just the continental breakfast options) even on disembarkation day! (for everyone else, room service ends at 1:30 am the last night) - which is one of my favorite perks - as I like to start my mornings slowly! Guests in concierge staterooms with a dining table can even get dinner from the main dining room delivered to their stateroom. Royal Suite guests can even get Palo delivered to their stateroom!!! Dinner lounging in PJ's - yes, please!
A lesser-known perk of concierge is that you are given some of the best seats in the house for your rotational dining experiences. This means being closer to the 'action' and some of the best and most beautiful views (and the best of the best dining staff imaginable). Additionally, there is a secret passageway your concierge team will lead you through each evening before the main show - which completely avoids the crowds and chaos. You will also get free popcorn and water as you enter the Walt Disney Theatre each evening and will have access to the best seats in the house - usually always front row!
One of my favorite perks is access to the exclusive Concierge areas of the ship - The Concierge Lounge and Concierge Sundeck which are staffed by an amazing dedicated team of cast members that are there to ensure you are having the most magical sailing possible. The Concierge Staff at sea are some of Disney's best and will be there to help you with any questions, assist with your planning, or address concerns any time of day! They will truly make you feel like you are a VIP!
The Concierge Lounge is a tranquil space equipped with snacks, food, and beverages, including complimentary unlimited wine, beer, and spirits during the evenings from 5 pm - 10 pm (and all day on embarkation day)! The food options change five times daily (continental breakfast, lunch snacks, afternoon offerings, dinner snacks, and dessert offerings), ensuring a variety of choices to try nearly every time you step into the Concierge Lounge. Additionally, there's a range of non-alcoholic beverages offered, including bottled water, soda, juices, and milk, as well as a self-service coffee maker that prepares various coffee beverages. Apart from the coffee available for purchase at Cove Cafe, the Concierge Lounge boasts the finest coffee onboard. The hours of the Concierge Lounge may vary, but are typically daily from 7:00 am - 10:00 pm. The Concierge Lounge is the perfect place to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the ship's public areas.
The Concierge Sundeck offers a private sunbathing area equipped with towels, sunscreen, snacks, drinks, and luxurious comfort! It also offers exclusive Fireworks at Sea-viewing areas. The Dream, Fantasy, and Wish all have hot tubs, and the Wish also has a private wading pool. It’s a nice respite from the often-crowded pool deck, especially on sea days.
Lastly, when sailing Concierge on Disney Cruise Line - you will experience special or magical touches like private meet and greets with your favorite characters, and ship captains who are known to pop up, for example! You honestly never know what other types of magic can happen until you experience it yourself - but rest assured that your concierge team will do everything in their power to make your sailing as magical as possible! No more standing in line at guest services - the Concierge Team will help you with ANYTHING you need! Need to check excursion availability, change your Palo reservation time, or even book a placeholder for your next cruise - EVERYTHING can be handled by your amazing Concierge Team!
So, the question "Is Concierge worth it?" is very subjective and truly comes down to how you envision your vacation. DCL's Concierge Level takes an already high standard of Disney Service up a couple of notches... It's ideal for those who want added convenience and a more private, relaxing, and attentive experience during their sailing! I will warn you, however, once you sail concierge - it will be extremely hard to sail any other way!
